During an interview with Hot 97’s Cipha Sounds & Rosenberg Show, Pusha Ton said that their beef isn’t any “deal.” Stating that he wasn’t feeling Wayne’s Dedication 4 (“It wasn’t that good,” he said), the Clipse rapper explained why their problems escalated.
“Man, it ain’t no deal. It really ain’t. I think a lot of people just take it a bit further. I don’t have a lot of ill will towards him,” he said. “But I write, though. When it gets those times, you gotta be scathing and say some harsh things in this Rap thing. But it ain’t no biggie.”
He also referred to the origins of their beef. Some speculated that Pusha rapped about Wayne on “Mr. Me Too” after Weezy wore BAPE on the cover of VIBE magazine, though he insists he wasn’t addressing him in particular.
“I didn’t do that then, though. Back then, it was a thing where people were talking about him and BAPE and all that stuff. BAPE ain’t mine. BAPE won’t mine, BAPE won’t ever mine. I was never saying that people were trying to be like me, but people were saying it. And this was the social media thing. They caused it and then he commented on it like it was me, and I never did.”
